Srijib Mukherjee, PhD, PE

Dr. Srijib Mukherjee, Ph.D., PE, Principal Advisor, Transmission, Quanta Technology Expert. Dr. Mukherjee is an expert in interconnected grid operations, bulk power operations & energy portfolio management. He brings over 16 years of experience from the electric utility and energy consulting industries in energy risk management strategy, NERC compliance, bulk power dispatch operations, generator siting and interconnection studies for wind and other generator interconnections, EHV system plans, distribution system planning, and EMS/SCADA advanced technology applications. He is an expert in bulk power operations, generation and transmission asset management and planning studies to develop utility capital budgets and rate case support. Additionally, he has developed, streamlined and standardized various control center applications in relation to building Control Center Organizations, Regional Transmission Organizations (RTO) and Independent System Operator (ISO) organizations and helped structure and build metrics to bring profitability.

Srijib is part of the leadership team in the Transmission Group w/in Quanta Technology. In this capacity, he provides management and technical advising on strategy and risk management in the energy industry, manages and mentors a team of high level engineers on best practices and technologies to help electrical utility and industrial customers achieve optimal performance, better manage risks, and achieve reliability, financial, and regulatory goals with respect to various energy markets, generation and transmission asset management challenges.

Prior to joining Quanta in 2006, he was Lead Engineer of Asset Performance at Progress Energy, where he was tasked to help build a statistically significant decision model to help predict short and long term reliability performance of the system to help build the companies rate case. He also served as a Senior Portfolio Manager and Senior Engineer at Progress Energy. In the Senior Portfolio Manager role Srijib managed transmission risk, models, constraints and congestion for various energy trading and marketing portfolios. As a Senior Engineer at the Bulk Power Control Center, Srijib was responsible for running extensive power flow and contingency analysis studies for outage management and switching purposes and for available transfer capability posting on the OASIS system across various interfaces. Prior to joining Progress Energy, Srijib held the position of Operations Engineer and Operational Methods Trainer at Nevada Power Company (Sierra Pacific Resources/NV Energy) at the System Operations Center where he was responsible for outage management, NERC Operating and Planning Standards and System Dispatcher training

Srijib received his MBA from Duke University and his MSEE and Ph.D. from the University of Miami and is a registered Professional Engineer both in the states of California and North Carolina in addition to being a NERC Certified System Operator. He is an IEEE Senior Member, a recipient of the IEEE PES Outstanding Engineer Award in 2001 and past Chair of the IEEE, Eastern NC Power Engineering and Industrial Applications Societies.
