Mike Marshall, PE, BSEE
Mike W. Marshall, PE, Executive Advisor, Quanta Technology Expert, has more than 27 years of power generation, distribution design, system dispatch and operations, power delivery planning, system reliability, and asset management experience. Mr. Marshall is an industry expert in the areas of power system engineering and design, reliability assessment and strategic prioritization. Since 1982, he has been instrumental in developing engineering methods and solutions while managing major capital projects for utilities in North, Central, and South America, as well as in Europe.
Mr. Marshall has managed and directed organizations within consulting firms and utilities and has been instrumental in the development of engineering and operating personnel at these companies. Prior to joining Quanta Technology in 2006, he was Manager of Engineering Consulting at Synergetic Design in the US. In addition he has worked 17 years for two utility companies, Ameren Corporation and Progress Energy, where his experienced spanned the areas of. His consulting experience includes working for ABB as an executive consultant specializing in system planning, reliability, and design, within the US and internationally. Mr. Marshall has managed and supervised several successful organizations that developed innovative solutions and industry best practices in the areas of reliability and power delivery planning, asset management, system design, and engineering standards.
Mike is the recipient of the 1999 ABB Power T&D President's award of excellence for his efforts in reliability based planning and optimization. He has written numerous technical papers on topics that include distribution reliability, lightning protection, distribution automation, budget optimization, and series capacitors. In addition, he has designed and implemented a number of series capacitors specifically for use on distribution systems. Mike has been an invited presenter and a panelist at a number of professional conferences and panels. Included in these are three award-winning papers presented at the 1996 (Lightning Protection), 1997 (Series Capacitors), and 2003 (Distribution Grounding) IEEE Rural Electric Power Conferences. He received his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri - Rolla and is a Registered Professional Engineer.
