Hans J. Candia PE

Hans J. Candia P.E., Senior Director, International Business, has over 29 years of Experience in the Transmission Power Industry working in utilities and vendors. He has held technical and management positions in Electrical Utilities and International Power Technologies Leading Manufacturing companies. He has successfully lead and manage engineering and commissioning teams for the execution of national and international multimillion transmission/substation turn key projects. He is results driven and is recognized for his abilities to meet challenges in the planning and execution of large local and international transmission/substation turn-key projects.

He is an experienced hands-on manager, managing multidiscipline technical teams, project execution teams, transmission operations teams, After Sales teams and contractors. He has been a member of large international firm's leadership business and execution strategy teams. He was also a member of university advisory boards, has thought Graduated Level Power Engineering courses and has conducted Protective Relaying Training Seminars for utilities.

Prior to joining Quanta, he was the Director of Engineering for the Siemens High Voltage Systems (HVS) Division. Hans was responsible to start up the HVS Engineering group to support the business areas of AIS/GIS turnkey substations, FACTS and HVDC in the USA market. He was responsible to set up the first Siemens world wide "24 Hour HVDC Operation and Maintenance Organization" for the 500 kV HVDC transmission link between the PJM and LIPA systems from New Jersey to Long Island, NY. He also was a member of the Siemens PT&D Management Leadership Team.

Hans held management and technical positions in the ABB substation group in the USA. He managed the Commissioning and Protection & Control groups including the associated site start up activities. He also held positions as Project Manager and Project Engineer during his tenure with ABB. Hans was assigned to local and international projects and was involved in emergency restoration assignments after major hurricanes.

He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, New Jersey. He is a registered PE in the States of New Jersey, Texas and Connecticut. He is an IEEE member and has participated in several Protective Relaying Working Groups.
